EY names new Singapore managing partner

Ernst & Young (EY) has announced Liew Nam Soon’s appointment as new country managing partner for Singapore and Brunei, effective 1 July.

Liew takes on the new role even as he continues to act as the company’s Asean regional managing director, a role he has held since 2019.

As Asean regional managing partner, he is responsible for business performance and client service in 14 geographic markets, providing strategic leadership on operations and market and people development across the region.

Liew is also a member of the EY Asia-Pacific operating executive and the EY global practice group.

Before taking on his latest role as country managing partner, Liew served as regional markets managing partner and financial services managing partner for EY’s Asean team.

He has 30 years of consulting and industry experience in banking, asset management, and insurance, including advising senior executives on business strategy, risk management and governance, regulatory compliance, and M&A. Liew has also worked extensively in fintech.

“Nam Soon is a distinctive candidate for the role, given his strong commercial acumen, extensive industry experience, and solid client relationships in the market,” said Max Loh, whom Liew will be replacing.

Loh will retire as EY’s Asean managing partner on 30 June. He held the position from 2011 to 2019, and will continues to work in EY as its Asean and Singapore IPO Leader.
