Allianz furthers sustainability efforts

Talk about going green: an insurance company has not only taken steps to reduce paper consumption in its offices, it has also participated in a project that resulted in the planting of 1,000 native trees in the Surrey Hills.

Over 120 employees of Allianz planted trees and shrubs in Cranleigh’s Knowle Park on February 25, as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy tree-planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this year.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Allianz said it has removed 75% of printers in its offices and replaced paper with electronic communications to reduce its environmental footprint. The company has also given its UK employees 20 hours each year to participate in activities that intend to help local communities.

Allianz has continued to grow its business to become one of the largest general insurers in the UK. Despite the persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company achieved a total revenue of £5.4 billion in 2021, attaining 2% growth.
