Amu Barnabas Also Popularly Known as Keeny Ice in the music industry from the Volta Region of Ghana.

Artistically known as Keeny Ice, Amu Barnabas is a Ghanaian Hip-hop/ Hiplife performing artiste from Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana. He is the last of three boys born to his Benin father, Mr. Pacal Amu, and a Ghanaian Mother, the late Mrs. Elizabeth Senayah Amu on 11th June 1991.

Keeny Ice had his basic education at Modestus International and completed it in 2006 with a BECE certificate. He then continued to study Visual Arts at Three Town Senior High School at Denu, also in the Volta Region, and graduated in 2011 with a WASSCE Certificate.
During his second cycle of education, Keeny Ice won the admiration of his peers who watched him perform several times during entertainment programs. He gradually became one of the best student artists in the Volta region at the time.

In 2015, he evolved and his strength as a musician became well known and added an appreciable number of music lovers to his fanbase and these ‘Keeny Freaks’ eventually propagated his works to others.

MUSICAL LIFE

After school, Keeny Ice ventured into full-time music. He is currently focused on the HipHop/Hiplife genre of music. He blends his native language “Adza” with English to communicate his message.

His debut ‘Adam and Eve’ featuring prolific Ghanaian musician, Castro of Blessed Memory officially introduced him to the music scene and the reception has since been amazing.

He then followed up with other singles and features, notable among them are ‘Dance Fever’ featuring his Godfather Edem, Rap Monster, Alhaji, Hail Mary, Move featuring Kofi Kinaata, Ebe God ft Victor AD, Gankivi, Come Thru, Money feat Hairlergbe among others.

Keeny Ice Awards

Keeny Ice won the Best Music Video, Best Collaboration, and Best Rapper awards at the 2018 VMAs, and he expected to win big at the 2019 VMAs, where he got nominated in 7 categories, including the Artist of the Year category. At the same time, Keeny Ice bagged 5 nominations at the 2020 edition of the @voltamusicawards.

Keeny Ice EP

In 2021, he released his debut Extended Play(EP) dubbed “Border Vibes” in which he told the real life and music hustle story inspired by his childhood days, experiences on the musical journey, and his plans.

Keeny Ice has performed on many stages including Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Nominees Jam in Ho, Koforidua Technical University Awards, Ghana/Naija Beach Rave, Ghana Meets Naija 2019, EdemFest, SaminiFest, Zylofon Cash Activation Concert and also on many big stages in Nigeria and Togo.

He runs the KICA Foundation, an NGO that encourages the teaching and learning of Creative arts in Basic schools.
