Jessy Honu Edem Also Popularly Known as Jessy Degreat in the music industry from the Volta Region of Ghana.
Jessy Honu Edem is a Ghanaian rapper, singer, and songwriter who hails from Hlevi, a suburb of Sogakope in the Volta Region of Ghana. He was born on 4th June 1993 to Mr. David Kwame Honu & Mrs. Justine Voegborlo.
Jessy had his basic education at EP Basic School in Ashaiman and continued to Akatsi Senior High Technical School in Akatsi, Ghana.
Jessy GH has some unique attributes and that would be his voice/vocal texture and the groovy nature of his sound. His immense interest in music fully manifested in Junior and Senior High School when he started performing and miming Sarkodie’s songs at entertainment.
This caught the attention of many of his colleagues who encouraged him to write his songs instead of always miming that of others. With these words, Jessy set on the 3 years journey of writing and released his first-ever project in 2015 which was a freestyle to Sarkodie’s song titled ‘Original’.
Talking with MrrrDaisy, he disclosed that, due to his unique, style, delivery, lyrical dexterity, and creativity he has been endorsed by Ghanaian mainstream rapper, Edem twice on different occasions and has had the privilege to work with great and creative talents like, Amerado Burner (an award-winning rapper), Jah Phinga (an award-winning Dancehall artist and AFRIMMA nominee), Scata Bada (an award-winning Reggae-Dancehall artist) and Fricky Zor (Togolese Hip-Hop artist).
Jessy explained his type of music as a field that requires a lot of brain cracking and intelligence to make people feel exactly what he is saying through his songs – it comes with lots of life experience and being able to step in the shoes of people and this comes with lots daily new creativities. Over the 3 years of doing music professionally, he has released an Afrobeat EP and Hip-Hop tape with both having 7 songs each, 15 singles, and 4 music videos.
Jessy was nominated for the Volta Music Awards as the ”Best Rapper of the Year”, ”Songwriter of the Year”, ”Hip-Hop Song of the Year” and ”Popular Song of the Year”. His inspiration comes from notable people like Sarkodie, Edem, Nasty C, Jahmiel, and himself. With the career path he has taken, his goal is to be the best of his kind hence making some cash whilst impacting society.
Aside from music, he is equipped with knowledge in researching and online marketing, and social media advertisements for individuals and companies. He likes to play football in his spare time.
His music can be found on SoundCloud, Audiomack, iTunes, Spotify, Aftow, and all other digital platforms.
