Chief One started making music long ago in the Volta Region, but he was only doing mix tapes with songs of some notable musicians in Ghana. He started his professional music career in 2016 and released songs that were hit in the Volta Region. In 2017, he did a mixtape of Olamide’s wo song, and with that, many Ghanaians started to know there was one artiste called Chief One from the Volta Region, even though he was popular in Volta and Togo.
Chief gained his Breakthrough in the Ghana music industry in November 2021 after releasing Novayi, a collaboration with DD Don, a musician in the Volta Region. The snippet he did for this song saw Giovanni Caleb and other Ghanaian celebs endorse the song by posting it on their social media pages. He later released Mekamo, and following that, an EP dubbed “Here I Come.” The EP had six songs, including Du Agbe, Young Boy, O2 Arena, Mekamo, Nyemedzio, and Novayi. Ghanaians have welcomed Chief very well even though he makes music in the Ewe language and Pidgin, and he is continuing to drop more hits in the industry.
