National U-17 Football Scouting Exercise Kicks Off in Volta Region

Ho, Volta Region – The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has brought its nationwide Black Starlets talent identification programme to the Volta Region, offering young footballers a golden opportunity to showcase their abilities and earn a place in Ghana’s national U-17 team.

The scouting exercise is taking place today, Monday, July 6, at the Ho Sports Stadium, where dozens of talented players from across the region are expected to participate. The exercise is being led by Black Starlets coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle and his technical team as part of the GFA’s nationwide search for the country’s next generation of football stars.

The programme is open to boys born in 2010 and 2011 and is designed to identify promising players with the technical ability, tactical awareness, physical qualities, and discipline required to represent Ghana at the youth international level. Throughout the exercise, the coaching staff will closely assess participants through a series of matches and evaluation sessions.

The Volta Region scouting exercise forms part of a broader national initiative that has already visited several regions across the country, including the Upper West, Upper East, Northern, Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Western and Western North Regions. The programme aims to build a strong Black Starlets squad ahead of upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.

Football stakeholders in the Volta Region have welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important platform for local talent to gain national recognition. The region has produced several outstanding footballers over the years, and many believe the latest scouting exercise will uncover another generation of players capable of making an impact on both the national and international stage.

The Ghana Football Association has encouraged eligible young players to seize the opportunity, emphasizing that talent can emerge from every corner of the country when given the right platform.
