The Volta Region is set to benefit from a new wave of international cooperation as Ghana and Namibia explore opportunities to strengthen their bilateral relationship through strategic partnerships in trade, agriculture, tourism, investment, education, and cultural exchange.
The discussions took place during a courtesy visit by Namibia’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Mrs. Ndiyakupi Nghituwamata, to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in Ho, where she met with the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu.
The meeting focused on identifying areas of mutual interest that could promote economic growth and create new opportunities for communities across the Volta Region.
Trade and Investment Opportunities
Officials from both countries emphasized the importance of expanding trade relations and encouraging investment in key sectors. Agriculture was highlighted as one of the major areas with significant potential for collaboration.
The Volta Region is widely recognized for its agricultural activities, including the production of rice, vegetables, cassava, maize, and other food crops. A partnership with Namibia could open new markets for local farmers while encouraging knowledge-sharing and the exchange of modern farming techniques.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of attracting investors to support industrial development, agribusiness, and small and medium-sized enterprises within the region.
