HO, Volta Region β The Ho Central Mosque has reopened after months of closure following a protracted leadership dispute that disrupted Muslim worship in the Ho Zongo community.
The reopening marks an important development for Muslims in the regional capital, who had been unable to use the mosque normally during the period of tension.
According to reports by Citi Newsroom, the mosque’s closure followed violent clashes linked to disagreements over leadership positions. A shooting incident during the conflict reportedly left 13 people injured.
The reopening is expected to provide worshippers with an opportunity to resume congregational prayers at the facility. However, the underlying leadership dispute remains unresolved, raising concerns about the need for a lasting solution to prevent further tensions.
The situation has drawn attention to the importance of dialogue, peaceful negotiations and respect for established processes in resolving disagreements within religious communities.
Community members and stakeholders are expected to work towards a peaceful resolution that will promote unity among Muslims in Ho and restore lasting stability in the Zongo community.
The reopening of the mosque is a significant step towards normal worship, but a sustainable resolution to the leadership disagreement will be essential to maintaining peace.
