Ho, Volta Region — September 15, 2026: Dr Stanley Nelvis Glatey has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), promising to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and restore confidence among members across the region.
Dr Glatey, a lecturer at Ho Technical University and an experienced NDC organiser, made his declaration at the Volta Regional Press Centre in Ho as he formally launched his campaign for the regional secretary position.
His campaign is being pursued under the theme “Rebuilding the Grassroots, Restoring Hope, Reclaiming Glory.”
According to Dr Glatey, his decision to contest is motivated by a desire to serve the party and contribute to strengthening its organisational structures rather than simply seeking political office.
He has pledged to build a transparent, accountable and inclusive Regional Secretariat that will maintain regular engagement with constituency and branch executives.
Dr Glatey also emphasised the need for improved communication between the regional leadership and grassroots members, promising timely feedback and greater openness in the management of party affairs.
“I come before you not merely to ask for your vote, but to offer myself for service, unity and the renewal of our great party,” he said.
Experience in NDC affairs
Dr Glatey brings considerable experience from his years of involvement in the NDC. He previously served as Ho Central Constituency Secretary, a position he held for several years, and has also been involved in the party’s regional communications and youth structures.
He has served as a member of the NDC Regional Executive Committee and has participated in the party’s parliamentary and presidential campaign activities.
His political career has also included parliamentary contests in the Ho Central Constituency. In the 2023 NDC parliamentary primaries, he contested the Ho Central seat and spoke strongly about the importance of experience, commitment and grassroots support in determining the party’s electoral fortunes.
Dr Glatey was also elected as a deputy regional executive during the NDC’s previous regional elections, securing 116 votes in the deputy secretary contest.
Focus on grassroots mobilisation
A major part of his campaign message is centred on reconnecting the regional leadership with party members at the constituency and branch levels.
He has promised consistent engagement with grassroots executives, listening to their concerns and ensuring that decisions and resources are communicated more effectively.
Supporters of his campaign believe his combination of academic experience, party organisation and political activity could bring a new approach to the administration of the Volta NDC.
The contest for the Regional Secretary position is expected to generate significant interest among NDC delegates as the party prepares for its next phase of internal organisation and electoral mobilisation.
