NPP Suspends Constituency Executive Elections in Six Volta Region Constituencies

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its Constituency Executive Committee elections in six constituencies in the Volta Region, following concerns that require further attention before the electoral process can continue.

The suspension forms part of measures by the party leadership to address issues surrounding the conduct of the internal elections and ensure that the process is carried out in a transparent, fair and orderly manner.

According to reports, the affected constituencies were among those scheduled to participate in the party’s nationwide constituency executive elections, which are aimed at electing new constituency-level leaders to steer the affairs of the party ahead of future political activities.

The NPP had earlier opened nominations for constituency executive positions, including Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser and other key positions as part of its internal reorganisation exercise.

Party officials are expected to engage stakeholders in the affected constituencies to resolve outstanding matters before a new date is announced for the elections.

The suspension has generated discussions among party supporters in the region, with some calling for fairness and transparency to protect unity within the party ahead of upcoming political engagements.

The NPP leadership has maintained that all internal electoral processes must follow the party’s rules and guidelines to strengthen confidence among members and supporters.

VoltaWeb will continue to monitor developments and provide updates on when the suspended elections will resume.
