Residents of Leklebi Agbesia Benefit from New Mechanised Borehole Water Project

Residents of Leklebi Agbesia in the Afadjato South District of the Volta Region can now enjoy reliable access to clean and safe drinking water following the commissioning of a new mechanised borehole water facility.

The project was implemented under the Community Focus Foundation Ghana (CFF-Ghana) Safe Water Access Project, an initiative aimed at improving access to potable water for underserved communities while promoting better public health and sanitation.

The newly commissioned mechanised borehole is expected to serve hundreds of residents who previously relied on streams and other unsafe water sources for their daily needs. Community members have welcomed the project, describing it as a major relief that will reduce the burden of travelling long distances in search of clean water.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, stakeholders highlighted the importance of access to safe drinking water in preventing waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhoea. They noted that improved water infrastructure is essential for enhancing community health, supporting education, and promoting local development.

Officials from Community Focus Foundation Ghana reaffirmed their commitment to working with local communities and development partners to expand access to clean water across the country, particularly in rural areas where safe water remains a challenge.

Residents expressed their gratitude to CFF-Ghana and all partners involved in making the project a reality, saying the new facility will significantly improve their quality of life and provide a sustainable source of water for households, schools, and nearby institutions.

The commissioning of the mechanised borehole marks another important step towards achieving universal access to safe drinking water in the Volta Region and aligns with national efforts to improve water, sanitation, and hygiene services across Ghana.

As communities continue to benefit from similar interventions, local leaders have called for regular maintenance of the facility to ensure it remains operational for many years to come.
