President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the Volta Region receives its fair share of national development, assuring residents that the government will not take the region’s longstanding support for granted. The pledge was made during his two-day “Resetting Ghana Tour” of the region.
Addressing chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents, President Mahama emphasized that the Volta Region remains central to his government’s national development agenda. He said the administration is focused on delivering infrastructure, expanding economic opportunities, and improving public services to enhance the quality of life for residents.
As part of the tour, the President launched the construction of 24-hour Economy Model Markets across the region, inspected ongoing works on the AsikumaβHo Road under the government’s Big Push Programme, visited educational institutions including the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and Peki College of Education, and commissioned the new Akatsi North District Police Headquarters.
President Mahama also highlighted plans to develop the Volta Economic Corridor, describing it as one of Ghana’s most strategic growth hubs. According to him, the initiative will unlock investment opportunities, boost agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and tourism, while creating sustainable jobs for the youth.
He urged residents to continue supporting the government’s development agenda, assuring them that the administration remains committed to fulfilling its promises through equitable distribution of national resources.
The visit forms part of the President’s nationwide Resetting Ghana Tour, aimed at engaging citizens, inspecting ongoing projects, and launching new initiatives designed to accelerate socio-economic development across the country.
