Akatsi, Volta Region – August 5, 2026 – The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly (ASMA) has called on all residents, businesses, institutions, transport operators, market women, and community groups to actively participate in the upcoming National Sanitation Exercise scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2026.
The exercise will begin promptly at 6:00 a.m. and forms part of the government’s nationwide effort to promote environmental cleanliness, improve public health, and create safer communities.
According to the Assembly, the sanitation campaign aims to mobilize citizens to clean their surroundings by desilting gutters, sweeping streets, clearing refuse dumps, and removing weeds from public spaces. Residents are encouraged to provide the necessary tools, including cutlasses, shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, and brooms, to ensure the success of the exercise.
The Assembly emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility and urged every household to contribute towards making Akatsi South one of the cleanest municipalities in the Volta Region.
Working Together for a Cleaner Municipality
Environmental sanitation remains one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of diseases such as cholera, malaria, and typhoid fever. The Assembly believes that regular community clean-up exercises will help improve sanitation standards while promoting healthier living conditions for all residents.
The campaign is being held under the Assembly’s slogan:
“Together We Build – Let’s Keep Our Environment Clean!”
Residents are advised to come out early and fully participate in the exercise to demonstrate their commitment to keeping Akatsi South clean and healthy.
The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly expressed appreciation to all community leaders, volunteers, youth groups, and sanitation workers who continue to support environmental cleanliness across the municipality.
