Power Outages Announced for Parts of the Volta Region as ECG Schedules Emergency Maintenance

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a planned power interruption that will affect several communities in the Volta Region as part of an emergency maintenance exercise aimed at improving electricity supply and the reliability of the power distribution network.

According to the ECG, the maintenance work is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The company explained that the temporary shutdown is necessary to allow engineers and technicians to carry out essential maintenance work on power infrastructure serving the affected areas.

Communities expected to experience the temporary power outage include:

  • Adaklu Torda
  • Adaklu Sofa
  • Adaklu Ablornu
  • Adaklu Waya
  • Anfoe
  • Payin
  • Dzodze
  • Other surrounding communities

ECG has advised residents, business owners, and institutions within the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled maintenance period.

The company also apologized for any inconvenience the exercise may cause and assured customers that the maintenance work is intended to improve the quality and stability of electricity supply in the region.

Businesses that depend heavily on electricity, including cold stores, internet cafΓ©s, welding shops, hair salons, and other small enterprises, are encouraged to take precautionary measures to minimize disruptions.

Residents are also advised to unplug sensitive electrical appliances during the maintenance period to protect them from possible power fluctuations when electricity is restored.

ECG has reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable and efficient electricity services while urging customers to cooperate during the maintenance exercise.
